Comfort Suites Clayton-Garner
Even though you can rent an RV, or sleep in your car, if you need a Hotel, this is the closest to Oak City Shred Fest.

Knightdale
A satellite of Raleigh and a 10 minute drive, this is your quickest destination for gas, groceries, and food. Lots of retail space, with every chain restaurant and department store in the area represented. OakCity Brewing is a nice place to grab a beer, but there aren’t a lot of great spots to float here.

Neuse River Greenway
When it’s not too wet you can access the Neuse River Greenway from trails that lead out of the back of the property. From there you can head south to the small town of Clayton or north to Anderson Point Park which is a Greenway hub that makes all of Raleigh accessible for those with big batteries and tough feet. Both of these destinations are just over 7 miles away.

Clayton
Also about a 10 minute drive, Clayton is another option if you need to run out and grab something, Clemons State Forest is an educational place to take the kids. With a little planning, a float to Deep River Brewing from the farm is a peaceful, gorgeous ride. The downtown area has retained it’s small town vibe, but there’s still a lot going on here.
Bailey And Sarah Williamson Preserve
There are 7 miles of gorgeous walking and bike trails on the adjoining property, however OneWheels and other PEVs are not (yet) permitted. If you are a mountain biker though, you will want to bring your bike to OakCity ShredFest for sure.
Percy Flowers Store
This store is named after Percy Flowers, who was one of Johnston county's most prolific bootleggers. He is reputed to have made over a million dollars a year with his moon shining operation and was known as a local Robin Hood. At one point, he was producing alcohol on such a large scale that he purchased sugar by the train-car load.
The store has always been a friendly place to get North Carolina style hot dogs, hamburgers, and sandwiches. You can also find an ABC store, grocery stores, a pharmacy, McDonalds, and a Mexican restaurant at this intersection a 15 minute drive from LakeSide Retreats.
Deep River Brewing
Johnston County’s first legal brewery is a 10 minute drive or a 40 minute ride down the Neuse River Greenway from LakeSide Retreats
