Safety Committee

As Oak City One Wheel has grown from a few friends who like to ride, to the juggernaut that it is today, it has brought together individuals from across the country and around the world. All these individuals came together for the same reasons: the love of riding, enjoying good company, and spreading the stoke.

In conversations after past large events, it became clear that while many had a great time, there were other members who shared stories where they felt unsafe, harassed, and were unable to view OCOW as the inclusive, fun, and safe space that we want it to be.

For this reason, the Safety Squad was formed. The group consists of 7 members of the community selected by Oak City Leadership with the goal of handling safety and accountability concerns. The group focuses on maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment at all group events and within our online spaces. The team reviews safety concerns, incident reports, and community complaints, and works collaboratively to address them in a fair and constructive way. Our goal is to ensure accountability while supporting the well-being of everyone involved. We take all reports seriously and handle each matter with discretion, empathy, and professionalism.

If you have a concern, something to report now or in the future, please use this link to fill out a report. These reports are only accessible to Safety Squad members.
